Describe your athletic background. In 2006 and 2007 she raced with an amateur USAT license and was ranked in the top 5 in her Age Group. In 2007, she was named an Inside Triathlon All-American and achieved one of her goals of reaching the podium in Kona.  In 2008, she took the next logical step by becoming a professional triathlete.

How long have you been competing in multi-sport races? About 7-8 years

What is your favorite product available at TriSports.com? I am still pretty new to the area (and the sport) so I haven't settled into a defined "favorites" list yet

How did you get your start in Triathlons? A good friend of mine knew I loved to train and race in long duration endurance races. She told about Ironman and how great this sport is, so I raced Ironman Switzerland as my first Triathlon in 2003.

What is your favorite workout? I don't really have a favorite workout, variety is the key to keep the sport fresh and interesting to me. I do particularly enjoy long scenic bike rides in new locations and the occasional "epic" 6k swim workout.

“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…” Reading.

If you could do any triathlon in the World (regardless of monetary restrictions) which one would you do? I have been very fortunate and have been able to race all around the world over the last several years, but my favorite race is also very close--the Full Silverman in Henderson, Nevada

Describe your biggest race disaster. Well, last year at IMAZ, my husband I were both racing. He made up our nutrition bottles while I was getting other things ready, but instead of putting them in our bags or on the kitchen counter, he put them in the freezer--and forgot to bring them to the race. Fortunately, we lived on 12km from the start and we were there early enough so he could drive back and get them and still have plenty of time to get ready himself. While there was no real damage done, it stressed me out pretty badly.

Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual? Pancakes for a pre-race dinner, then very early to bed. A very big smoothie for pre-race meal.

What culinary indulgence do you allow yourself after a big race (that you don’t normally partake of)?  Ice Cream. We cannot keep it in the house, otherwise we will just eat it until it is gone--usually very rapidly!

Have you ever accidentally destroyed a very expensive piece of gear? (For example, have you driven into the garage with a bike on the roof, run over race wheels, etc.) No, knock on wood!

What is the worst job you’ve ever had? I have had many different jobs over the years, and I can honestly say I didn't consider any of them terrible--they all had their own unique benefits and drawbacks. I can say that without a doubt, being a Pro Athlete is the BEST job I've ever had!

What adjective describes you best? Organized. Most people say I am the most organized person they know!

Finally, do you have any advice for athletes new to multi-sport competition?  The most important advice I could give is don't forget to have fun. Triathlon or Duathlon is a great way to meet new people, improve or maintain your health, travel to far away and exotic places, but for most of us, me included, it isn't a way to make a living, it is a way to have fun!
