Occupation: School Social Worker

Educational Background:BSW-Florida State University, MSW-University of Texas

Where did you grow up? Where do you live now? Tallahassee, FL; I've lived here almost my entire life.

How long have you been competing in multi-sport races? About 4 years

What is your favorite product available at TriSports.com? Apple Cinammon Hammer Gel

How did you get your start in Triathlons?  I started of as a runner and some of my running friends were also triathletes.  They encouraged me to join them. Never underestimate the importance and the impact you have when reaching out to a beginner or novice athlete. You may open up a whole new world to them.

What is your favorite workout? Either a long, social run with my friends or a a track workout where I get to go fast. Either one followed by a yoga class to stretch out my very tight hamstrings.

“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…” Eating, sleeping, and spending time with my husband-to-be

If you could train for a week with one other triathlete who would it be and why? My friend Lara Shaw. She is a former pro and NCAA All-American, who is now a working mom. She has taught me a lot not just about triathlon and training, butalso about how to be a good wife, mom, and friend.

If you could have one superhero power what would it be? I'd like to be a Jedi Knight and be one with the Force.

Describe your biggest race disaster. My first triathlon could've been my biggest race disaster, as I did not know I needed to put air in my bike tires! Thankfully, one of my more experienced friends noticed my tires were a little flat and offered to put some air in them. Other than that, my inability to remember to consume liquids on the bike has caused several devastating run disasters.

Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual? Getting to the race early enouogh to allow the required number of pre-race port-a-potty visits.

What culinary indulgence do you allow yourself after a big race (that you don’t normally partake of)? MILK SHAKE. I drink it up!

Have you ever accidentally destroyed a very expensive piece of gear? My very careful and attentive husband-to-be does not leave me alone with expensive triathlon gear, so I have been fortunate not to destroy anything (yet!). I did leave my favorite warm running/cycling jacket on a plane returning from Peru. I cried. It was very traumatic.

What is the worst job you’ve ever had? Camp counselor (best form of birth control ever)

What adjective describes you best? Corny

Finally, do you have any advice for athletes new to multi-sport competition? Triathlons can lead to a positive and healthy lifestyle. Keep workouts and races fun and social.  The more fun and interesting your workouts and races, the more likely you are to do them.
