How did you get your start in Triathlons? I was looking for a test of the limits of the human body.

What is your favorite workout? Tempo run after a 40 mile bike.

“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…” Drinking Guinness. Oh yeah, and watching The Office. Usually while drinking Guinness.

If you could train for a week with one other triathlete who would it be and why? Chris McCormack because I think he drinks Guinness.

If you could have one superhero power what would it be? Flight.

Describe your biggest race disaster. I went wrong way on the bike. Lost about a minute and could have gotten first overall.

Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual? The IPod with old school rap to get me in the right frame of mind.

What culinary indulgence do you allow yourself after a big race (that you don’t normally partake of)? Ice cream.

Have you ever accidentally destroyed a very expensive piece of gear? Well, if an accident is riding the bike into a sewer grate and bending my titanium front rim beyond repair and flying over the handlebars, then yes, I have destroyed equipment.

What is the worst job you’ve ever had? Picking tobacco in Connecticut. Hmmm, ethically, morally not sitting well with me now. Good thing is I only lasted about 3 weeks. .

What adjective describes you best? Passionate.

Finally, do you have any advice for athletes new to multi-sport competition? Don’t be afraid and don’t be afraid to ask questions of other triathletes. We are always going to want to give advice but remember it is what works for us. Try a few things to find what works for you.
