Where did you grow up? Where do you live now? - Grew up in Chicago. Currently, live in Boulder (love the sunshine)
How long have you been competing in multi-sport races? - I have been competing since 1999. It has been a journey I would not trade.
What is your favorite product available at TriSports.com? - I can't pick just one. I love bike toys - wheels, frames, you name it.
How did you get your start in Triathlons? - I tried my first mini-triathlon in Chicago 1999 and was hooked. That is...after I bearly survived the swim.
What is your favorite workout? - My favorite workout is a 2 hr bike cruise interval session, immediately followed by a 2 hr run. It hurts, but it gives serious results.
“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…” - Hanging out with my wife, Tiia & playing with our two Golden Retrievers (Summit and Kona)
If you could train for a week with one other triathlete who would it be and why? - My wife, Tiia. I miss training with her since she is working on a little Norsym (pregnant).
If you could have one superhero power what would it be? - The ability to heal.
Describe your biggest race disaster. - Ha, this is a good one. Riding into the barrier on Lake Shore Drive during the Chicago triathlon, which resulted in 3 stitches on my nose and 5 in my chin after the race.
Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual? - Oatmeal and a Cool Mint Chocolate Clif Bar. They are must haves.
What culinary indulgence do you allow yourself after a big race (that you don’t normally partake of)? - I love Mint Chocolate Chip ice-cream
What is the worst job you’ve ever had? - My student job filing records during undergrad.
