Occupation: High school math teacher

Educational Background:  BS in Math & Business from Skidmore College, Master’s in Secondary Ed

Where did you grow up? Where do you live now? I grew up in the lovely town of Elmira, NY. Where Triathlon refers to one whisky one bourbon and one beer. I now live in Durango, CO. Full of beautiful scenery and great weather.

Describe your athletic background. I grew up playing soccer and swimming, then decided one day that I wanted to do an Ironman. So, I dusted off an old bike and started to train!

How long have you been competing in multi-sport races? This will be the start of my third season.

What is your favorite product available at TriSports.com? The Qroo Lucero. (aka my bike!)

How did you get your start in Triathlons? I had a friend tell me about the Ironman in Hawaii, and right then and there it went on the list of things to do!

What is your favorite workout? My favorite workout is the ride from Durango to Silverton and back. I have only done it a couple of times, but it is an epic journey!

“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…” Beer…way too much!

If you could train for a week with one other triathlete who would it be and why? Peter Reid. No explanation necessary.

If you could do any triathlon in the World (regardless of monetary restrictions) which one would you do? Ironman Lanzarote Canarias. Beautiful, and hard! What could be better?

Describe your biggest race disaster. IM AZ, when I thought the swim start was 600yds down the path, and almost missed the start!

Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual?  Yeah, 3 trips to the porta-potty.

What culinary indulgence do you allow yourself after a big race (that you don’t normally partake of)?  Anything I want!

What is the worst job you’ve ever had? Changing oil at Wal-Mart. Enough said

Finally, do you have any advice for athletes new to multi-sport competition?  Ask as many questions as you can, or the same questions to as many people as you can. Then listen.
