Craig Spreadbury M18-24

dallas, texas

Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?  I grew up in Alberta and now live in Dallas.

How long have you been competing in multi-sport races?  This will be my 4th season.

What is your favorite product available at TriSports.com?  The food.  I don’t like eating the same gels, bars and drinks workout after workout so I like to mix and match and try a little bit of everything.  Fortunately, Trisports has an extensive selection so I never get bored.

“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…”  I like sunshine, patios and pizza.  In that order.  Put all three together and it’s pretty much my favorite way to spend an afternoon.

If you could have one superhero power what would it be?  I’ve never seen a superhero hopping around on one foot or falling over as they struggle to climb into their super-suit.  I *really* wish I could get into my wetsuit quickly and much less awkwardly.

Describe your biggest race disaster.  I had my first DNF at IMFL last year.  The conditions were perfect, it was an amazing day for racing… instead, I chose to spend a significant amount of time emptying my stomach on the bike course

Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual?  The only race that I didn’t have a beer the night before was the aforementioned IMFL ‘07.  I learned a valuable lesson that day – always have a pre-race beer.

What culinary indulgence do you allow yourself after a big race (that you don’t normally partake of)?  My post-race dietary rules are as follows:

  • There are no rules.
  • No shellfish.

What adjective describes you best?  Scrumtrilescent

Finally, do you have any advice for athletes new to multi-sport competition?  If you really want to lower your race times, move your arms and legs faster, consistently.
