What is your favorite product available at TriSports.com? Clif Shot Blocks – the first solid training food I like, as well as my wetsuit which keeps me from sinking. |
How did you get your start in Triathlons? I succumbed to pressure from friends and family. |
What is your favorite workout? A long run with my 10 year old on his bike next to me. |
“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…” spending time with my 3 kids. |
If you could train for a week with one other triathlete who would it be and why? My husband. He's a great athlete, pushes me, and makes me laugh. |
If you could have one superhero power what would it be? The ability to fly really fast. |
Describe your biggest race disaster. A bloody crash in the first half mile of the ride at Buffalo Springs Lake Triathlon last June. I finished the ride, put on my running shoes, and made it all the way to the medical tent, where they helped peel my shorts off my giant dried roadrash on my hip. Ouch!! |
Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual? Spreading out the Scooby Doo towel. |
What culinary indulgence do you allow yourself after a big race (that you don’t normally partake of)? Nothing special – I'm an equal opportunity eater – I eat a lot, often. |
Have you ever accidentally destroyed a very expensive piece of gear? (For example, have you driven into the garage with a bike on the roof, run over race wheels, etc.) We had a roof-rack launch off the top of our car with two carbon-fiber mountain bikes attached to it half way into our drive to Crested Butte, CO. |
What is the worst job you’ve ever had? Donut queen at Dunkin’ Donuts during high school – I’d go out with friends after a shift smelling like a fried pastry. |
What adjective describes you best? Enthusiastic. |
Finally, do you have any advice for athletes new to multi-sport competition? Enjoy it – training for more than one sport is actually a lot easier on your body than focusing on single sport, and more interesting. And find a couple of good training partners at your level or slightly higher. |
