How long have you been competing? “I started competing in triathlons in 2001.”

Occupation: US Air Force

Educational Background: Electrical Engineering

Where did you grow up? grew up in a Townsend, Montana (population 2,500) and thanks to the Air Force, I was able to get an assignment back to Montana at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls where I currently reside.

How long have you been competing in multi-sport races? I have been competing in triathlons and other endurance events for over 6 years now.

What is your favorite product available at TriSports.com? My favorite product would have to be the variety of high end triathlon and road bikes available.

How did you get your start in Triathlons? My roommate in college persuaded me into training for and entering a sprint distance triathlon.  Two credit card debts and a month later, I was too far in to turn back.

What is your favorite workout? My favorite workout would have to be between middle distance sets in the pool or hill repeats on the bike (I would rather go uphill on a bike than downhill…if you can believe that).

“When I’m not training/racing, I enjoy…” Watching a classic western movie from the comforts of my recliner, or having good conversation with a friend over a coffee at Starbucks.

If you could train for a week with one other triathlete who would it be and  why? That would easily be Chris McCormack…not simply because he has won the Ironman World Championship, but more because of the kind of person he is.  I once had dinner with him in Tucson about 5 years ago, and you could not find a more approachable, down-to-earth, professional athlete out there. He is a great guy and a great champion.

If you could have one super hero power what would it be? My super hero power would have to be the ability to fly. It would sure save on the cost of traveling to all the different races throughout the country.

Describe your biggest race disaster. Ironman Couer d’Alene 2003 – my first Ironman, and I definitely didn’t eat/drink enough on the bike.  That was the longest day (and marathon) of my life.

Do you have a non-negotiable pre-race ritual? Set up my transition area early, so I can relax before the start.
